Hickory, North Carolina
An ongoing development project we are exploring ways to create multi-use isolation members. Current thinking is that these could come in a box and be available to the craftsmen on board to use as required - from stiffeners for overhead grids to toekicks to equipment foundations, any place you want to isolate one part of an assembly from another.
The box like assembly pictured was intended to represent a wall structure, but as soon as it was done we looked at each other and said "Cool, an air handler foundation!"
As for the name well the dogbone like configuration is obvious and as for Chien well . . . see Dr.Chien
